A life-size head and shoulders oil portrait of my handsome nephew Hugo Davies, painted this summer. Oil on canvas, 16 in x 20 in.
I am very pleased with this portrait as it has the vibrance of a sketch whilst being a good and strong likeness. It conveys his warmth and gentleness whilst still having the energy appropriate for a painting of a young man. The colours are vibrant and the brushstrokes are energetic.
Some portraits come very easily. This was one of them. I wish they all did!
